A 40-year-old man, Yusuf Afolabi, has appeared
before an Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court for
allegedly failing to exorcise evil spirits
tormenting one Emenaka Anayo.
Afolabi, who claimed to be a herbalist,
allegedly collected N70,000 from Anayo to do
the job.
He pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge
bordering on fraud, stealing and possession of
fake currency before Magistrate A. Oshodi-
Makanju.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kemi Adeniran, told
the court that the offence was committed

accused, therefore, stole over N70,000
belonging to Anayo,” she told the magistrate.
Adeniran also said that the accused was
arrested while in possession of 53 fake
American Dollars of different denominations.
The magistrate granted the accused bail in the
sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties
in like sum and adjourned the case to February
9, for mention.
